Personal Life
Who is Lainie to Eminem?
Lainie is known to Eminem as his 'other daughter'. She was originally his niece, the daughter of
Kim's sister who was unable to take care of her. She and Hailie have grown up together, are now
inseparable and what drives Eminem, who has full custody after legally adopting her.
How many children does Eminem have?
Apart from Lainie ( read above ), Eminem has a daughter of his own called Hailie. His affection for his daughters
is shown throughout his career and at one stage of his life was all he had in the world. His dream was to give them
the life he never had, so far he seems to be doing just that. In late 2005 Eminem became the legal parent of Whitney,
a child from of his wife Kim from a past relationship.
Who is 'Uncle Ronnie'?
Ronnie was Marshall's uncle, although 2 months older. They grew up together and it was Ronnie who brought Eminem
into rap, they planned to become a rap duo and take over the world, performing in films and on soundtracks
( after being inspired by Ice Tea's Reckless ). Tragically, Ronnie shot himself with a shot gun, an incident
which has Eminem not talking to anyone for months. The dog tag which Eminem was seen wearing through the early
stages of his career had 'Ronnie' engraved and was worn out of respect. A sad point to make, at the time of the
death, Marshall's mum: Debbie told Eminem that he missed a call of Ronnie's and claimed it was his fault. The
pain this caused Marshall is unimaginable.
Who is Nathan?
Most commonly known as 'Nate Mathers' this is Eminem's half brother, Debbie's second son. He can be seen in the
videos: "The Way I Am", "Without Me" and "Sing For The Moment". Nathan was also
bullied at high school and Debbie has been accused of beating him as a child. Nate is one of few people who
Eminem has made clear he cares for.
His Career
How did Dre sign Eminem?
There are many stories behind this, some more believable then others. But who else to believe them the man
Marshall himself? In a recent MTV interview Eminem said: "The legend has it that when I came out to L.A
for the rap olympics, Dre had heard me, I had an EP pressed up and he had got my tape from Jimmy Iovine. He
was driving in his car, and Dre said as soon as he heard it, he was like yo where he at? .... and the rest is history".
Why did Ja Rule beef with Eminem?
The story behind it all is pretty simple. 50 Cent and Ja Rule had been rivals back in Queens for years. Before
even being signed to columbia, they had been at each others necks and clearly, Eminem had no association let
alone role in the beef. It was only till 50 Cent was signed to Shady that it was inevitable that the camp was to
get involved. Em has always said he only hits back at those who run at him, upon hearing a line from Ja Rule
referring to his daughter: "You mothers a crack head, kim's a known slut, so what's Hailie gonna be when she
grows up?" that he had crossed the line and there was nothing to do but launch various disses aimed at not only
Ja Rule but the whole Murder Inc label. Eminem's role in this beef has pretty much been halted since the release of
'Like Toy Soldiers' ...
Who is Benzino and why did he go at Eminem?
Benzino was the Source magazine co-editor, who had 'founded' the magazine with Dave Mays years before the days of
Eminem. The magazine had helped start Eminem's career and along side this, Benzino who had albums released with
'Made Men' and 'RSO' had miserably flopped. Whether or not it boils down to jealousy or not, the Source then
featured articles on Eminem being a machine, depriving the hood from making their money, in effect saturating
hip hop. This resulted in some of the best diss tracks of Eminem's career such as 'Nail in the coffin', 'The Sauce'
and 'Invasion 3 freestyle'. Another blow came when the Source exposed racist tapes of Eminem rapping as a teenager,
talking negatively of black women. Eminem has apologized many times, most notably on the track 'Yellow Brick Road'
in which Eminem explains he was young, frustrated after being dumped and tired of the racism in which he was living
with. Since Benzino has managed to release tracks claiming to be in response to Eminem, a clear marketing ploy but
there's no saying he hasn't benefited from this all. More information on the Benzino Eminem Beef
